Dalton Bargo Named PBR Nebraska Hitter of the Week
Another Westside senior has been awarded the PBR Hitter of the Week award. Missouri University commit Dalton Bargo has shown outstanding leadership with stepping up in the hitting role and was recently awarded the honor for his 10-17 week with 2 doubles, a triple and 6 RBI on April 25.
This season, Bargo has hit a slash line of .519/.584/.769 with 1 homerun and 28 runs batted in through 79 at bats.
“All my offseason work has been on display,” Bargo said. “I feel really comfortable in the box and everything has been playing out well.”
Bargo has shown throughout the season that he is here to play, getting out of tough situations at the plate. Head Coach Otis Seals has noticed Bargo’s improved leadership this season.
“It’s so awesome that Dalton has won this award, but one thing that I want to share is how much of a leader he has become,” Seals said. “I anticipate that role continuing to expand and him leading our team along with our other seniors.”
Bargo transferred from Roncalli high school his sophomore year, making him a new face on the Westside baseball team. Coach Seals and the program take great pride in both winners of this award.
“Dalton has improved tremendously from his sophomore year at Westside,” Seals said. “That is perhaps what I am most proud of as his coach. This goes for Jackson Yeager too. Those two guys work so hard in the weight room, batting cages, hitting leagues, in the gym in the winter, and during the season to be great baseball players.”
Along with these numbers, Bargo is nearing an incredible feat in his senior season. With 47 hits currently, Bargo is just six hits away from the Westside High School program record of 53 dating back to 2003 by Al Smith. Bargo added onto what it has meant to be such an integral part to the Westside program.
“It has meant a lot,” Bargo said. “Just being a part of this culture and this family and Westside in general as a school system is just awesome and surreal.”
Westside will take on Papillion-La Vista this afternoon, May 3, at 3:30 p.m. in their last regular season game of the year before the district tournament on Saturday, May 7.
