Westside’s senior running back Dominic Rezac broke the Westside high school single-game rushing record last Friday, Sept. 17 as the team won 47-19 against the Papillion-La Vista South Titans. 

Rezac has been a player to look out for, as he has put up a total of 606 rushing yards in the first four games of the season. This past week was special for Rezac. Along with four touchdowns, Rezac broke the school rushing record with 308 total yards to end the night. The previous record was 307 yards, which was set in 2007 by Collins Okafor, who went on to play for Nebraska. Rezac is thankful for his teammates, who helped him break the record. 

“I am feeling well; you know the line was giving me great looks and a few of our misdirections.” Rezac said. “It was about time we popped a few of those so just proud of my boys up front for getting me there.”

Rezac committed to the Air Force Academy this past summer. He talked about how supportive his future coaches have been this season. 

“Just talking with Coach Horton and Coach Calhoun, and Coach Means out of the Air Force just helping me improve things I need to do this senior year to get ready to go play there next year has been a lot of fun going through that experience,” Rezac said.

Dominic Rezac has made a moral impact on his younger twin brothers. Starting cornerback Teddy Rezac and backup quarterback Anthony Rezac are no strangers to the Westside football culture.

“He’s definitely taught me how to work hard, how to be a leader vocally, and lead by example,” Anthony Rezac said. “He’s also taught me how to be a part of the brotherhood.”

The Warriors will continue their season against Grand Island next Friday at Phelps Field. Dominic Rezac expressed that the team is still hungry, as they are hoping to continue their 16-game winning streak this week against the Islanders. 

“We’re still hungry, we’re riding that winning streak but you know we’re not done yet, our class is still hungry to go get another one,” Dominic Rezac said.
