Westside Administration Announces Switch to COVID-19 Green Mode
On Tuesday, Jan. 12, Westside Superintendent Mike Lucas released a statement announcing that the district will move back into COVID-19 green mode on Tuesday, January 19. This switch is from 50% attendance in yellow mode to 100% attendance in green mode. According to Lucas, there will be no school for students on Jan. 18 for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
“As expected, coming out of the holiday break, we had a total of 37 confirmed cases of COVID-19 within our school district last week,” Lucas stated in the email. “We will continue to monitor all cases and enforce COVID-19 protocol throughout our facilities. We encourage everyone to self-monitor daily as we all continue to help combat the spread so we can get/stay in our GREEN mode.”
Lucas also explained how the district will handle snow days for the rest of the winter.
“We do not plan to have any at-home, extended campus learning for our students,” Lucas stated. “We hope our students and staff will be able to enjoy these days if/when they occur.”
The switch to 100% green mode comes after the district remained in 50% yellow mode following Thanksgiving break through the first two weeks following Winter break.
