Girls Golf Breaks School Record
Westside’s girls golf team won the tournament at Stonecreek on September 16th with a finishing score of 326 breaking the current school record. This is the second record to be broken by the team just this year. Junior Maddy DiPrima and Portia Lenczowski both placed in the tournament. Sophomores Kaitlyn Hanna, Mel Erftmier, and Claire Bonnett also all placed top fifteen in the tournament.
Erftmier finished the tournament at 10th place with a score of 87. Throughout the season, he has many successes and this win is just an addition to many in the near future.
“As a team, we were all super excited that we broke the school record,” Erftmier said. “We all did amazing and everyone was overwhelmed with joy.”
Erftmier looks to have the team make it to state again this year and says that is a main goal for the team. He wants his teammates to continue working hard and getting as much practice as they can. Bonnett was also very surprised and happy regarding her team’s success.
“I have some really amazing teammates and we all work really hard in practices and invitationals,” Bonnett said. “I honestly didn’t even know what the school record was before we beat it. All of us working hard really played off.”
The team’s goal is to once again make state and end the season with many more successes. Look to see them play at Willow Lakes Golf course against Bellevue West Senior High.
