Warriors Sweep in Girls Golf

The girls golf team is once again successful in the Gretna Invite at Tiburon golf course. The Warriors take the win for the first time in over three years. Sophomore Kaitlyn Hanna shot a 72 taking first place leading by 10 strokes.

“We definitely can place first at these events, if we all put in the time and put in the effort we can do it,” Hanna said.

Hanna said in a previous interview that she was confident her team could place first. In their most recent invite, they took first place as a team. Hanna also placed first and shot a 72 with a lead of 10 strokes.

My goal was to play my best and pull out a win,” Hanna said. “I hit every fairway and my irons were on point. I [want] to continue to work on consistency and shooting some low numbers.”

Hanna is proud of her own and the team’s success at the Gretna Invite. She is confident that if everyone continues to work hard at practice, then the team will be in contention for most of their tournaments.

“We’ve had a bit of a slow start when coming to our higher scores,” Hanna said. “We need to continue to work on consistency and our short game. I know for sure we can all shoot lower scores than what was posted Monday.”

Hanna explains the struggles of scoring the team has had in previous tournaments. She says the team just needs to continue working on skills and consistency to better themselves for future tournaments. Although they’ve had higher scoring in the past, the last invite was successful with low scores and shows the potential of the varsity team.

The golf team will hit the course again on September 12 against Lincoln Southeast.
