Girls Golf Off to Fast Start on the Season
The girls golf team started their season with two successful placings. The team finished T-third for the tournament at the Lincoln East Kick-Off. Sophomore Kaitlyn Hanna placed second and shot a 72. The Warriors also finished second at the Elkhorn South invite with two medal holders, Portia Lenczowski in fourth and Hanna in first.
At the last Warrior girls’ tournament, Hanna not only broke the school record but her own record she set last year. She shot a 69 and once again took her well deserved first place.
“I feel pretty good about breaking the record and knowing that I broke my own [record] from last year a few times,” Hanna said. “I’m just looking to getting lower scores every time.”
Hanna has been dedicated to golf and working hard all year long to achieve her goals. She looks to continue pushing for lower scores and placing first every chance she gets.
“[Westside] got runner up which just shows we didn’t play our best all together, so we definitely can place first at these tournaments,” Hanna said. “I think we all just need to put in the time and effort, then we definitely can do it.”
Hanna isn’t slowing down and believes her team needs to keep their heads up and continue fighting stronger every day so they can take the win.
“In future practices I plan to continue to work harder, be more consistent, both on the range and with my short game, to shoot low scores,” Hanna said. “I definitely know I can shoot lower than 69, especially on some of these courses.”
Hanna explains her long term goal is to always shoot lower than par. She wants to keep building up to it, working harder every day to make it her best season yet.
