PREVIEW: Cross Country Team Experimenting With New Team Structure
With the school year kicking off and students filling classrooms, the cross country season is already in full swing. The hopes are high and so is the pressure to improve off of last season’s results.
This year there have been some changes to the way the team is set up. The boys and girls will be combining into one team. Coach Teresa Gosnell is excited about the upcoming season and the changes made.
“I’m really looking forward to coaching both sides for the first time,” Gosnell said. “It will be interesting to see.”
When asked about any worries coming into this season, Gosnell didn’t necessarily have any.
“I, of course, would’ve loved for more running over the summer, but really any coach would,” Gosnell said.
On another note, senior Jack Kinney said he is eager to find out what the freshman have in them this year
“I’m very excited to see what some of the freshmen can add to the team’s value,” Kinney said.
As for leadership, Gosnell thinks that the upperclassmen will really step into their roles well.
“There are a lot of great seniors to play leader roles, I’m excited to see what we can do this season,” said Gosnell “It’s all coming together.”
The first meet will be held at Walnut Creek on August 31st, at 8:40 a.m.
