Season Recap: Westside Baseball Falls Short of Goal in 2019 Spring Season
The Westside Baseball teams season came to an end in the districts final on may 4th after beating Columbus in the semifinal earlier in the day. Westside had a great season and just missed receiving the wildcard to get into the state tournament. Head Coach Bob Greco felt the team had a great season and felt they deserved to be at the state tournament, but in the end fell up just short.
“You know you always think it’s a good season, but it was very disappointing at the end. I truly believe we deserved to be at state and we barely missed the wildcard just like last year,” Greco said. “If we just would have won one more game, we would have been there.”
Greco believed that their team was competing with some of the best teams in the state towards the end of the season. He also said it was a very disheartening loss for the season especially because all the players wanted it so bad this year.
“There’s always all kinds of things you could do better in a season, and, if I could say anything about this season, we could have done better,” Greco said.
Coach Greco plans to decide next week whether or not he will be coaching the following season.
