Boys soccer bounces back after shootout win
On Thursday, March 28 the Warrior boys soccer team put an end to their two-game losing streak as they went on the road to defeat the Wildcats of Millard West in a 5-4 thriller. Daniel Wood is a senior for the boys soccer team and he shared his thoughts on the win.
“The victory feels great, especially since we are coming off a losing streak. This game was a much-needed win for our team,” Wood said.
Not only is Wood thrilled about the win, but he also believes that his team has made improvements and did some things better than they did in their 2-0 loss against arch-rival Creighton Prep.
“Our intensity and pressuring were much better this game. In the first half, we were able to win the ball back quickly and have possession. When we did this, we were able to connect passes in the final third and create plenty of scoring chances, which was another improvement from the Prep game,” Wood said.
The Warriors have had a demanding game schedule as they have played seven games in total and five of those games have been played in the last 10 days. Now the team will have three consecutive days without a game which may seem like a lot of rest compared to what they have gotten earlier. Ethan Goldner is another senior on the team and he explained what he hopes to accomplish on the time off.
“We need to get everyone healthy because we have had 7 games in a short period of time. We also need to continue to work on our formation and just keep working together,” Goldner said.
