Movie Review: The Grinch (2018) vs How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
One of the most well-known Christmas movies is Ron Howard’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas from the early 2000’s. In my opinion, this movie pulls families together, sitting, and watching in comfort of the holiday spirit. However, I believe that the old version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas is too complicated for most kids to understand.
I get the gist that the Grinch stole all of the gifts of the people of Whoville because they were in the Christmas spirit. The beginning of the movie where there are people enjoying themselves, and the Grinch as a baby is just sitting there, I think it’s confusing. The only thing I feel like they have going for the 2000’s movie is that the Grinch is funny.
However, in the updated 2018 movie by Illumination Entertainment, The Grinch is easier to understanding and does better at getting the point across. In addition, the 2018 movie is much more kid-friendly. I feel as if this movie is more of a younger oriented movie altogether. However, if you’re looking for more teenage and adult humor, the 2000’s movie of How the Grinch Stole Christmas is just that. In my opinion, if you are looking for a family movie that everyone will understand and enjoy, the new 2018’s The Grinch is the way to go.
