The Westside girls cross country team warms up for a meet earlier in the 2018 season.

On Thursday, October 11th the Warriors competed in the District Cross Country Meet at Fremont’s Valley View Golf Course. All 7 Varsity Girls qualified for state as a team, while Senior Ethan Goldner was the only male runner to qualify.

The varsity girls team finished third in the A-3 district, beating out Omaha Marian by one point with a team score of 94. Freshman Reese Young-Oestmann finished 10th overall with a time of 19:44.07 and Noelle Abels finished just behind at 11th overall and a time of 19:44.09. Because the warrior girls finished third in their district, all varsity girls qualify and will be competing in the NSAA Class A State Championship race on October 19th, in Kearney.

Senior Ethan Goldner is the sole male runner to qualify as he finished second overall with a time of 16:20.25 narrowly missing the first place finish by less than a second and a half to Liem Chot of Lincoln North Star as Chot finished with a time 16:18.53.

Goldner will enter the meet as a top contender. Consistently finishing within the top five, Goldner has cemented himself as one of the top runners in the state.
The Warrior girls and Ethan Goldner will be competing next in the State championship race on Friday, October 19th at Kearney Country Club.
