Westside Football Team Secures Home Field Advantage
Seven and 0.
That’s the current record of the sixth-ranked Westside football team. Their last game being against Elkhorn South with a score of 35-21. That was their third district win, which locks a first round home game which could prove to play a huge factor in getting a win.
Home field advantage has always proved to be true, and the Warriors have it to kick off the playoffs. This means that whoever Westside plays that day is looking at an away game. Westside’s offense has scored a total of 280 points in their 7 games. This is an average of 40 points per game.
The offense is scoring at a very high rate, but the defense is also allowing an average of 8 points per game.
The combination of offensive firepower and defensive stoppage can provide a good chance of winning, but it all comes down to the preparation according to senior Bobby Hurley.
“Even though the team we are playing this week may not have the best record, we can’t get comfortable with where we are at because we will end up losing to a team we shouldn’t lose to,” Hurley said.
There is always room for improvement, and the Westside varsity football team believes that. The team takes their practices very seriously and so far it’s shown.
