Preview: Warriors to Run with Huskies Friday Night
The Warrior football team is undefeated at 5-0 and coming off a 37-2 win against the eighth-ranked Creighton Prep Junior Jays. Westside has won by 30 points or more in four out of their five victories.
Westside will look to continue their undefeated streak against the Omaha Northwest Huskies on Friday, September 28th at 7 p.m. on the road. The Huskies hold a winning record at 3-2, but they are coming off a 41 point defeat at the hands of Millard South. Senior center Nolan Miller-Johnston said that he is pleased about how the season is going, but he thinks the team needs to improve mentally.
“We’ll focus on the mental. We made a lot of mistakes last game, but we will get those things fixed up and we will keep moving forward,” Miller-Johnston said.
Although Westside has a better record than Northwest, and even though Northwest is not rated, members of the team said that they refuse to overlook them. Senior Bobby Hurley is confident his team will not overlook the opponent.
“We know we can’t overlook any team. It’s all about respecting your opponent no matter who it is,” Hurley said.
Hurley also said he feels that his team is doubted and not given as much props as they deserve.
“I don’t think Westside gets the respect we deserve which is why everyone was surprised when we beat Prep by so much,” Hurley said.
Westside and Northwest will go toe-to-toe on Friday, September 28, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Omaha Northwest. Follow along with our Twitter page for updates.
