RECAP: Westside Shuts-out Junior Jay Offense for Fifth Straight Win

Roll ‘side, Roll.

Last night on September 21, eighth-ranked Westside took on seventh-ranked Creighton Prep. It was a blowout with the score being 37-2 by the end of the game.

Prep came out hot, intercepting the first pass of the game and earning a safety in the first four minutes, but after that it was all Westside. The Warriors was able to score all of their touchdowns on the ground, and also score on defense as well.

“It felt good because people had been sleeping on us,” Senior Daniel Opperman said. “So we showed them what’s up.”

Westside really caught fire when sophomore Avante Dickerson ran back an interception for a touchdown early in the game. At the point the score was 10-2, Warriors. Westside, who scored 37 unanswered points following the safety, were able to keep their opponent out of the end zone for the second time this season. Defensive Coordinator Justin Haberman said this was all because his players executed well.

“The defensive staff went in with a great game plan,” Haberman said. “The kids executed it to perfection. The kids played really well…it’s all kids.”

Westside will return at Omaha Northwest on Friday, September 28 at 7:00 p.m.
