Preview: Warriors Set for Clash with Dragons

Westside is set to host their second home game of the season under the bright lights at 87th and Pacific.

The ninth-ranked Warriors are undefeated and look to continue their streak on Friday, September 14, 2018 against the Gretna Dragons. The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m.

Last Season, Gretna was a Class B squad. The Dragons are sitting winless with an 0-3 record thus far. The team as a whole only has a .333 completion percentage 0.7 passing touchdowns per game. Senior Cade Jochum is aware of his opponents’ skill level, but he said they will not overlook them.

“They are 0-3 right now but, as coaches say, we can never underestimate an opponent,” Jochum said.

Although the Dragons are 0-3 in 2018, their program has a history of success at the class B level before moving up to Class A. The Dragons won two playoff games in both the 2016 and 2017 campaigns, qualifying for the state semifinals in each season. For Senior Dan Vermillion, he said the plan is pretty simple on how to defeat Gretna.

“Were going to practice hard, we’re going to zone in and get the win,” Vermillion said.

Westside and Gretna will go at it on Friday, September 14, 2018, at 7 p.m. at Phelps Field. The game can be streamed on the Warrior Television YouTube channel.
