Preview: Warriors, Knights Set for Week Three Matchup
After two successful road games, the Warrior football team has shown excellence on both sides of the ball. Westside is 2-0 and will play their first home game of the season against the Lincoln Southeast Knights on Friday, September 7th at 7 p.m. The team has outscored their opponents 93-7 in two games. Senior Nick Connelly says his team has a plan to continue rolling this week against the Knights.
“Our team’s plan to keep up the defensive dominance would be to keep being strikers and getting tackles behind the line, and on the offence were going to pound the ball,” Connelly said.
For many sophomores, this is their first home game on varsity. This includes starting quarterback Cole Payton.
Payton says that while the game always comes first, his first time in front of the home crowd will be an experience that he will remember for a long time.
“Definitely going to be something I never forget. We have a really awesome field and most don’t compare. It’s going to be be very exciting,” Payton said.
The Warriors and Knights will go to duel at Phelps Field on Friday night at 7 p.m.
