Recap: Team Efforts Show as Warriors Roll Past Monarchs

Seven points.

That’s all the Westside defense has allowed in their first two games of the 2018 season. On August 31, against the Papillion-La Vista Monarchs, Westside put on a show while scoring 38 points and giving up 7. Scoring both through the air and on the ground. With a strong defensive performance, Westside continued rolling.

On offense, Westside was able to march down the field and score more times than not as they were up at the end of the third when the score was 31-0. Senior Dylan Packett was a large part of the success they shared, scoring two receiving touchdowns.

“We did a great job on offense of moving the ball,” Packett said. “Blocking up front was great and we also had guys blocking downfield so it opened gaps in the defense.”

Westside, as they become 2-0, and are proving they are a force to be reckoned with. Everything was going their way, and it showed in the end.

Leadership has been an important part of the team’s success as well. One of the team’s leaders, junior Grant Tagge, was impressed by his team, but knows there is much more work to be done.

“We’ve done a good job executing our game plan each week and when everyone does their job defensively good things will happen.” Said Tagge. “We have a lot of work to do and aren’t near where we want to be but we’ve had a good start.”

Westside will look to continue rolling at 7:00pm on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Westside against Lincoln Southeast.
