Members of the Westside boys varsity golf team took the 120 mile trip to Norfolk Country Club to compete in the 2018 NSAA Class A Boys Golf State Championships on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. After falling out of the top 10 due to bogeys on the 5th and 8th holes, junior Grant Jabenis birdied on the 16th and 17th holes to pull even with par at 72 at the end of the first day. As of the conclusion of his first round, Jabenis sits in a tie for fourth place heading into day 2.
Senior Mike Hickey finished his first day with a 5-over score of 77. Hickey birdied three times, and he finished 8 different holes with a bogey. As of the end of his round, Hickey sits in a tie for 20th place heading into the second round.
These two boys will return to Norfolk Country Club on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, to compete in day two of the tournament. Tee times are TBD. Follow along with @WestsideWired on social media for updates.
