We live in a vast universe that is constantly expanding. There are 7.442 billion people on the earth, it’s scary to think that we could be the only ones in the universe. However, I don’t think we are alone. I believe that aliens are real. They probably aren’t little green guys in suits trying to take over the world, but most likely on some far off planet there is bacteria thriving. I like to think that in another galaxy there is planet that is able to support advanced life and they have their own civilizations like on Earth. Believing in aliens isn’t uncommon, according to a study done by GlocaIities, 26,482 people from 24 different countries believe in the existence of alien life. Actually, finding aliens is all about timing. Our technology isn’t advanced enough to travel far into space and the universe is so large that I don’t think in my lifetime that I will ever know the truth. Maybe in 2,000 years we will find the first sign of aliens.
“I hear a lot of people saying things that have to come together like the certain terrain and the fact that you have to have water, a specific location of the Earth and all these things come together to make life.” said Jack Flansburg, Westside senior. “The thing is that the universe is so big and expansive and it’s still growing so it’s almost foolish to think that there isn’t any life out there considering just how many solar system and planets there really are out there,” he said. “I think out current perception of aliens is kinda accurate like the green man with the eyes. See the thing is that not just like our imagination. I think that the government is up to some spooky stuff. There has been so much pop culture surrounded around the government hiding things like X-Files and all these movies and what not, that at some point you can’t say that “oh that’s all pop culture”, I think that has some substantial basis to it.”
Science teacher, Jon Allemang’s theory is, “I think that there is other life out there and I think there’s too vast of a universe that we will ever actually encounter them. I think if we ever encounter life outside of this planet and maybe within our solar system it’s going to be something simple like a bacteria. Would they look like us? Not having a very strong biology background that’s a really hard question. I mean I don’t know if it would develop with like a bilateral symmetry we have or if they would be more of a blob like thing. I don’t know if I could make a good educated prediction of what they would look like, I think it would be fun if they were little green men.”
You may believe aliens are real, maybe not. In this lifetime we may never know to answer. But I, along with many others, believe they are.
