Upcoming Albums for 2018
2018 promises to be a great year for many indie releases, these are just a few of the great records coming up.
Ty Segall – Freedom’s Goblin – The new album from Ty Segall so far has produced some great singles. With song’s like Main Pretender and My Lady’s On Fire, it seems like Ty is taking some elements from his past two albums to create a new concept for us to enjoy. This time around, Ty is combining some of the softer acoustic ballads with his signature heavy fuzz sound.
Courtney Barnett – TBA – During Barnett’s collaboration and tour with Kurt Vile, she has been working on new music for her solo-project. As of now the album is “half-finished.” According to Barnett this new record will be “darker, and more melancholy” than her last.
Vundabar – Smell Smoke – Vundabar have release one single Acetone off their new album Smell Smoke. After being blown away by their previous two records Gawk, and Antics, I am excited to see what they have to offer on their next record
The Breeders – All Nerve – Kim Deal of The Breeders and former bassist of Pixies has confirmed that she will be releasing a new record this year. This news comes after the single Wait in the Car was released in October. According to Deal, Steve Albini has een contributed a few drum tracks to the record.
Guided By Voices – Space Gun – The new Guided By Voices album will be the 26th album in their prolific discography. The new record promises to deliver the same scale of songwriting in previous GBV records. According the Robert Pollard, the album was written on the road during the tour for their last album, and was mostly inspired by the new lineup the band has had recently.
My Bloody Valentine – When Kevin Shields was asked if he would release new music in 2018, he said he “one hundred percent will.” We know very little about this new album, but the shoegaze titans will most definitely turn heads no matter what they do.
