The Westside varsity basketball teams will host the Millard West Wildcats on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The girls varsity team will start off the night and the boys team will follow. The Westside girls are coming off a disconcerting 58-31 loss at Millard South. The Wildcats, who carry a 2-2 record are coming in off a 49-44 loss at Lincoln Southwest. The Westside girls basketball team learned a lot about themselves as they took the trip to see Millard South on Friday. They gave up 19 points to sophomore guard Jayme Horan, so containing big times players will be a key for the Warriors’ success this season. They’re taking on a deflated Millard West, however, and in order to prevail they need to shut down junior guard Chase Pfanstiel who averages 13.5 points per game for the Wildcats. This game will say a lot about the character of this Westside team, so come out at support them.
The boys, however, are coming off a convincing win in their home opener over Norfolk. The Warriors are getting big time games out of sophomore Jadin Booth, who dropped 51 total points in week two and averages 22 points a game after four complete. In order for Westside to have success, they’re going to have to shut down center Brock Burling, who’s averaging 13.5 points per game and six rebounds per game, per MaxPreps.
The Westside girls and boys basketball teams will hit the floor with Millard West on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, beginning with the girls at 5:30 p.m.
