A Year in Review: Horror Movie Edition
Horror movies were not made for the faint of heart. These movies use common fears, suspense, and sounds to create moments of terror in the watcher, hence the name horror movies. If you’re looking for a good thrill, these new films are sure to make you shiver. Overall these flicks add up to hours of scares and a late-night popcorn cleanups.
IT
When I heard this movie was coming out, my mom and I immediately bought tickets and set a date to go. I prepared myself for a freaky clown movie while my mom, who had seen the original, was hoping for a fresh spin on a classic. “IT” is based on the novel “IT” by Stephen King. This book follows seven children around their town as they try to figure out what has been kidnapping their neighbors, family, and friends. By the end we were both wanting the sequel to be out.

Annabelle: Creation
This movie was at the top of my list of movies to see in theater, due to how well put together the rest of the series had been. I had seen the rest of the “Annabelle” and the “Conjuring” series and was in love with both of them. The cinematics and the story behind each movie fit with the last that it was impossible for a sequel, or prequel in this case, not to be made. This movie was no exception. “Annabelle: Creation” is the story of how Annabelle was created and why the issues that would happen later on in the series came to be. In this movie, Annabelle comes to life and takes over a doll to become this entity that begins to wreck havoc on a grieving family.

Lights Out
“Lights Out” was another movie that I was excited for, after seeing the trailer I was immediately drawn in. The cinematics behind it were amazing, and the suspense throughout created the perfect environment for a horror movie. “Lights Out” is about the return of a young girl’s nightmare that now haunt her younger brother years later. Causing the daughter to return home to find out what haunted her childhood and now threatens her brother and her mother’s sanity.
