RECAP/Photo Gallery: Varsity baseball ends season with runner-up state title

May 22, 2017

Varsity baseball ended their season on Friday with a state-tournament comeback that fell just short of a state title. After an 18-3 loss to No. 3 Millard West in the first round of the state tournament, the Warriors went on to defeat four teams to make their way to the state championship.

The second state playoff game ended with an 11-8 win over Millard North. This win helped the team ‘get back into the swing of things’ and advance with two more wins against Lincoln Southeast and Creighton Prep.

After rain delays and rescheduling, the Warriors faced the Bluejays for the second time in the state playoffs on Friday at Prep’s home field. Prep earned an early lead in the first two innings, scoring six runs. The Warriors snuck in five runs by the end of the game, making the final score 12-5.

Ending their season with a 23-15 record and a runner-up state championship title, the Warriors finished ranked No. 2 in the state [via NE Prep Zone]. Congrats on a great season varsity baseball!
