Spring Musical Preview: Zombie Prom
February 13, 2017
On Thurs. March 16th, the spring musical, Zombie Prom, will premiere. Choir teacher and musical director Greg Woodin is excited for the debut.
“The story line is high school, comic book style,” Woodin said. “Rebellious teen dates super popular cheerleader girl, mom and dad don’t approve, they break up, he’s upset, jumps into a nuclear power plant, comes back as a zombie, and realizes he wants to do good in life.”
Senior Audrey McCann, junior Alexis Rose, and the rest of the cast have been practicing everyday after school from 3:30-5:30.
“The show is super demanding vocally,” McCann said. “Acting-wise it’s silly, I’ve always been a really silly person but when someone tells you to be silly it’s hard to turn it on on command.”
On top of being vocally demanding, the show is choreographically full as well.
“It’s a really heavily choreographed show,” Woodin said. “There’s a lot of dancing and singing so it’s been fun.”
The cast is smaller this year compared to the cast of last years musical Fiddler on the Roof, but everything else about the play will be big.
“The sets gonna be really big, we’re gonna have a lot of big effects,” Woodin said. “We have chem teacher Jon Allemang on as our tech director, so he’s got a lot of super awesome ideas of big explosions and fog things.”
The musical will be showing Thurs. March 16th, Fri. March 17th, Sat. March 18th, and Sun. March 19th.
“Try and come support us,” Rose said. “Before I was in the musical, I didn’t realize how much work went into it and how much of a commitment it is.”
