Volleyball Preview 8/25
August 25, 2016
With just a couple hours before their season kicks off, both players and coaches of the varsity volleyball team have one thing in mind: “Thinkin’ Lincoln”. All four teams trained and conditioned hard this summer, preparing for the season ahead and working towards their goal of making it to state.
“I think because of how hard we’ve been working this summer, I think our girls are stronger and they’re in better shape” said assistant varsity coach Krista Filipi. “This year we upped the conditioning and additionally we did small groups of girls getting touches on the ball and really working and honing in on their skills, so I think that’s going to make us better.”
As a senior, varsity captain Katie Chalupa has encouraging goals for the team, and sees her position this year as an opportunity to improve both the team and the program.
“Our biggest goal is ‘Thinkin’ Lincoln’, we definitely want to go to state. Senior year I just want to play well and I want the team to do well and keep the motivation up for next year” Chalupa said.
Finally, the teams developed a new slogan, “All In”, that shows their dedication to the program and their goal of making it to state.
“I think they really want it and they really want to go to Lincoln” said head coach Beth Peitzmeier. “So I think with that they’re going to work really hard, and they have been working really hard, and I think that’s going to help us play together and hopefully be unstoppable.”
If you are unable to make it to their first game tonight, be sure to support your Warriors at the Bellevue West Invite on Friday, September 2nd.
