Week In Review 5/9-5/16
Boys Soccer
Boys soccer started off their week strong on Tuesday with a 1-0 win against Kearney which put them in the state semi-finals. The boys had a tough battle in the state semi-final game, playing Omaha South with a card-happy referee. There was a total of 12 yellow cards and 3 red cards given at the game. The team also had 4 of their starters injured. The Omaha South Packers won 4-0. The warriors ended with a 19-3 record.
Golf
The boys golf team competed in the metro tournament last week, playing against many class A Omaha golf teams. The boys won 1st as a team with AJ Nolin winning individually, shooting a 66. The team will compete today in the district finals and in state on May 25.
Track
Last week the girls and boys track teams competed in districts at North Platte, going against Bellevue West, Kearney, North Platte, Columbus, Central and Lincoln. The girls team qualified in the 4×8, the 4×4, high jump, 100 and 800 with Quinn Weidemann winning 1st in the 800 meter dash. The boys track team had a successful season as well with Ian George placing second in JV metros. Mike Merical and Milo Greder also qualified for state.
Graduation
On May 14, 2016 the class of 2016 walked across the stage and received their diplomas. For the first time ever, graduation was held at Baxter Arena and featured a touching ceremony to honor the class and everything they had done for Westside.
Lacrosse
Boys Lacrosse played their last home game on Friday. It was Senior Night for the Warriors and both JV and Varsity beat Millard North 8-3 and 13-3. The Varsity boys Lacrosse team have their next game at Papillion La Vista on Tuesday at 630. JV follows at 8.
Baseball
The boys baseball team had a good season but it was cut short after a final loss to Papio South in their regular season games. They finished with a record of 13-10 and sadly did not make it to state. Thank you Seniors!
