Week in Review 4/18-4/25
Track
Both boys and girls track teams competed Thursday April 21 at Lincoln High. Overall the boys placed fifth while the girls were a little further back in tenth place. Top individual places included the boys 4×800 meter relay team (1st), Milo Greder in the 1600 and 3200 (1st), Michael Merical in the 400 meter dash (3rd), Jaylen Knight in the 200 (4th) and Candace Quaites in the discus (4th).
Tennis
Girls tennis had two matches this week, first playing Papillion-La Vista South and winning 6-3. The No. 1 doubles team of senior Lizzie Harwood and junior Ashley Tyler won their match 8-1 and No. 2 doubles team of seniors Maddie Simon and Hanah Peters won their match 8-4. No. 2, 3, 4, and six singles all won their matches as well. Friday the girls played Omaha Duschene and lost losing 6-3. The teams next match is tomorrow against Millard North.
Boys soccer
The boys had a busy week starting off by beating Papillion La-Vista South on Monday 3-2. Thursday the team played Omaha Northwest for their senior night. Junior Jack Finocchiaro contributed to a hat trick helping the team mercy rule Northwest 10-0. To finish off the week on Saturday the boys played Bellevue West scoring three goals in the first half and one goal in the second to win the game 4-0. The teams next game is tonight at home against Benson at 5 p.m.
Girls soccer
The girls only had two games this week starting off by playing Marian at home for senior night. After a rough start going down 2-0 in the beginning of the first half, the girls came back to tie the game 2-2. Unfortunately, the girls fell short losing 3-2 in the final minutes of the second half. On Saturday, the girls went up against Papillion La-Vista for their Kicks For a Cure game. The girls won 2-0 with goals scored by sophomores Emma Wilson and Lauren Fehr. The teams next game is tonight against Omaha North at 5 p.m.
Baseball
The baseball team had yet another eventful week as they had three more games in the last week. The stretch began with a convincing win over Omaha Northwest, 12-2 Tuesday April 19, though the team was unable to hold their opponents to few runs in the following games. Thursday April 21 the Warriors lost to Lincoln Southeast 6-5 and once again Friday April 22 to Lincoln Pius X 9-8. Currently the Warriors sit at 8-14 with a game tonight April 25 against Norris at home at 5 p.m.
Golf
Monday April 18 the boys golf team competed in the Creighton Prep Invite. With the course playing a shorter yardage than usual, the Warriors took advantage and took home third place with a team score of 319. Senior AJ Nolin was the top performer from Westside with a score of 75, fourth place over all. Sophomore Mike Hickey shot 79 which earned him 10th.
