RECAP: Boys basketball wrap up a hard fought season
After a strong season from the Warriors, the boys fell short in making the state tournament. Being ranked No. 5 at the beginning of the season, the team had a good feeling that they would make it far into the season. Unfortunately the boys lost to Omaha Burke in their first district playoff game. They finished with a 13-10 record and didn’t move on to the state tournament.
Although the boys didn’t reach their season goal, Trae Meeks reflects on what he has learned throughout the season.
“My biggest takeaway from the season was that nothing that is worth something is going to be easy,” Meeks said. “We learned that the hard way.”
With an unsatisfying record to end the season, the lost against Omaha Burke made the end of the season even harder. After walking away from a tough loss, the boys realized that they didn’t have the chance to play to their full potential.
“My biggest disappoint is where we ended up. We didn’t even make it to the final round of districts,” Meeks said. “I feel like we had way too much talent on the time to settle for that.”
Besides the losses and the season not ending how the team planned, Meeks and the rest of the team reached a different goal that they were happy with in the end.
“I am most proud of building relationships outside of basketball with everyone on the team. They aren’t relationships you can find just anywhere with anyone.” Meeks said.
