Week in Review 2/15-2/22
Show Choir
The show choir teams competed at the Davenport Great River Show Choir Invitational in Iowa over the weekend. Simply Irresistible took home grand champion in the women’s division and ATSC was third overall and senior Jacob Thomas won best male soloist.
Wrestling
On Thursday, Friday and Saturday wrestling competed in the state tournament at the Centurylink Center. The wrestlers competing were sophomore Mickey Wilson in 152 weight class, junior Darlondo Hill in 170 weight class and junior Kobee Brewer in heavyweight class. Unfortunately, Wilson and Brewer were unable to capture wins during the tournament. Hill had a great showing, placing fourth overall at the tournament, medaling back to back years now. Hill is the first wrestler to win two medals under head coach Michael Jernigan. Congrats on a great season to all the wreslters.
Girls Basketball
On Friday the girls played against Bellevue West at Bellevue West. After a tough battle in the first three quarters, the girls pulled away a close win of 54-52. The team then turned around and played Omaha Burke at Westside for senior night on Saturday. The girls faced another tough game but won 46-40. The team’s next game will be a district game Tuesday, Feb. 23 at Westside against Central at 7 p.m.
Boys Basketball
To start off the weekend the boys played against Bellevue West on Friday. The team trailed most of the game until the final minutes but unfortunately lost 75-71. The boys then played Omaha Burke on Saturday for their senior night. Sadly, the boys trailed the game and lost to the Bulldogs 55-51. District pairings will be released Tuesday, Feb. 23. Check back in tomorrow for the time and place for the boys first game.
