Westside athletics to host annual Spirit Night

February 5, 2016

Over the past few years, Westside High School has hosted a spirit night to promote school spirit and pride for the school. It is hosted by the school’s athletic club and is accompanied by two basketball games for varsity girls and boys.

Athletic Director Thomas Kerkman, is confident the special night encourages students to support the school.

“We give out t-shirts to the first 400 kids who show up to the games,” Kerkman said. “Alumni returning to Westside are also welcomed back to the community and are invited to enjoy the basketball games against Lincoln Star.”

Alumni who do return will have reserved seating and be recognized during the half-time show.

Those who attend Spirit Night can also get free popcorn and the DECA store is offering 20% off on all purchases.

“The Athletic Club wants to express sportsmanship and wants students who go to Spirit Night to have fun and be proud of their school,” Kerkman said. “Everyone can enjoy themselves.”
