Winter Break in Review
Wrestling
The wrestling team had two tournaments over break, one in Wahoo and another at Prep. At the Wahoo invite the team placed eighth out of 16 teams. Junior Darlando hill placed second in the 182 weight division and senior Drew Sorrell placed fourth in the 126 weight division. At Prep, Hill was the only medalist placing fourth in the 182 weight division. Their next meet is a dual against TJ of Iowa and Papillion-LaVista Tuesday Jan. 5 at Westside.
Swimming
The swim teams started out their winter break with an invite at Lincoln Southeast. On the guys side, the team finished 12th. The girls had a better showing, placing fourth as a team, with a first place finish in the 100 yd. backstroke and a second place finish in the 100 yd. fly from senior Elizabeth Amato-Hanner as well as senior Grace Porter placing first place in the 200 yd. individual medley and fifth place in the 500 yd. free. Lastly, the 400 yd. free relay team placed fourth overall with the whole team placing fourth at the invite. The swim team’s next meet is Tuesday Jan. 5 at Lincoln Southeast again.
Girls Basketball
The girls basketball team participated in the Metro Holiday Tournament from Saturday, Dec. 19 to Tuesday, Dec. 22. The girls first game was Saturday against Omaha Central. Quinn Weidemann contributed to 15 points and Maya Solarana got 15 points to help the Warriors beat Central 63-53. The following Tuesday the Warriors played Bellevue West but fell short losing 62-45. The girls next game will be Tuesday, Jan. 5 at Bellevue East.
Boys Basketball
The boys basketball team also played in the Metro Holiday Tournament at Creighton Prep. Their first game was against Papillion-LaVista South, which was a nail biter ending with a long range buzzer beater from AJ Meeks to win the game. The final score was 45-43, with Meeks leading scorers with 12 points. The team then faced Millard South, but unfortunately lost 69-46, ending their tournament run. The team’s next game is Tuesday Jan. 5 at Bellevue East.
