Student vs. Staff Basketball Recap
In the most heated basketball game of the year, 20 seniors took on the staff team in a running clock battle royale. To start the game, the girls played the first quarter. The teachers started off with a quick three from administrator Trudi Nolin, but the senior girls answered right back with two layups. The rest of the quarter was a catfight. Both sides played aggressive D, with a nonstop press coverage and a countless amount of steals from both sides. By the end of the quarter, the teachers led 11-5.
As the second quarter rolled around, the senior boys started off hot with a quick three from senior Jake Milliti right over marketing instructor Brad Metzler, starting a three point shootout Milliti and Metzler would have the rest of the game. After a hard fought second quarter, the seniors kept it close with a 25-19 deficit at the half.
At the start of the third, the senior girls came out fighting, but experience helped the staff in this one. The full-court press was still there, even though the seniors could bypass it. Every time the seniors shot though, it was a miss and a rebound for the staff. At the end of the third, the score was 35-27.
To begin the fourth, the senior boys cut the lead quickly, with Milliti and senior Jack connelly making it rain threes over their opponents. Yet, it was Metzler’s quick transition threes and tough post defense that sealed the deal for the staff, taking the game 48-35. How a team of 30+ age staff members and a baby (Metzler) can beat high school seniors is still one of the great mysteries in life, but congratulations staff.
