Preview: Football team looks to reach playoff semifinals

Heart, leadership, commitment, consistency and sharpness are the goals of tonight’s game for the Warrior football team. Heading into the quarterfinals of playoffs, every team’s game is strongly elevated, with a new level of intensity, pushing teams to work harder to fight for the win.

Coach Froendt and the team know, it will be difficult, but they are all excited to put what they have been working on into play and to focus on the next step towards semifinals.

“We work on the process everyday, you have to tackle well, block well, run your plays well and defend well, and if you do those things success will follow,” Froendt says. “You can’t predict wins and losses it all depends on how hard the players play, if they do the things we practice all week long they will maximize their abilities, that’s all you can ask.”

Senior Mitchell Hagan, varsity quarterback is prepared to step up to the leadership role with other seniors and the team.

“I’m prepared, I’m confident,” Hagan said.  “I’m confident with everyone on the team, because we have really been working hard this week, which is a huge key to preparation too. The week doesn’t really start on Friday, it starts that Sunday when the first practice is.”

The team is confident they are capable of doing well and are prepared to fight to reach the semifinals.

“They have to worry about opportunity, so if they take that and embrace it then the team can achieve a lot. But if they are worried about things happening, and are negative then they’ll never achieve what they want.,” Froendt said.

Good luck to the Warriors tonight against Omaha North at Omaha Northwest!
