Intercession in Review
During the long break, Westside athletics kept busy.
To start off the week girls golf competed in the state tournament last Monday, taking home a fifth place finish.
On Thursday, cross country competed in the district meet for both boys and girls. On the girls side, they placed second in their district, with senior Phoebe Placzek placing sixth while junior Megan Algya placing seventh. On the boys side, the team won the meet with junior Milo Greder placing first, and seniors Alec Reilly, Abdi Abdinaser and Jakob Phillips placing fourth, sixth and eighth respectively. Both teams will be running at the state meet this Friday.
Also on Thursday was State tennis. The team placed seventh overall, with junior Dillon Ketcham placing third in number one singles.
On Friday, the football team went on the road to North and brought home the win 42-28 to bring their record to 6-2. Junior Henry Flott rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns while seniors Mitchell Hagan and Alex Lindquist connected for two more touchdowns in the air. The team’s next game is against Fremont Friday night, senior night.
To round out the weekend, volleyball hosted a tournament Friday and Saturday. After hard fought matches, the Warriors unfortunately couldn’t get a win. Their next game is tonight against Millard South for senior night at 6:30.
