Weekend in Review
In one of the winding weeks of fall sports, the Warriors had great success.
To start things, Tennis competed at the metro tournament on Thursday, placing third as a team. In number one singles, junior Dillon Ketcham placed second, and in number two singles, senior Ziyu Fan placed second as well. On the doubles side, senior Nick Pellett and sophomore Jordan Rhyner fifth in number one doubles. Their next match is the state tournament on Thursday.
The same day, Cross Country also had their metro tournament. The boys placed fifth overall, with junior Milo Greder placing second. On the girls front, the team placed 10th overall. Both teams’ next meet is the district meet this Thursday.
Softball competed in the district tournament Friday. They first lost to Omaha Central 6-5, but then won against South Sioux City 16-6. In the next round they faced Central again, but this time won 6-2. In the finals, the team faced Marian, but unfortunately lost 6-0 to finish second place in the district. Unfortunately with the loss, though, the team’s season is over. Congratulations on a great season Warriors!
Football had a long trip to Columbus on friday, but made the trip worth it with a big win 55-14. Senior running back Logan Duryee rushed for three touchdowns, complimented by three passing touchdowns from senior Mitchell Hagan to senior Alex Lindquist and then a late punt return for a touchdown by junior Henry Flott. The team’s next game is against Omaha North on Friday at Omaha Northwest High School.
On Saturday, the volleyball team came up big in the Lincoln High tournament. They started out with a loss to Norfolk 2-1, but then rang off three straight wins against Bellevue East, Lincoln High and then Millard South. With the string of victories, the team accumulated enough points to win the tournament. Their next game is Saturday at Westside, hosting a tournament.
