Apple update iOS 9 shines
The release of iOS 9 came out only a few weeks ago and has since put the former iOS out of date. Though, many people wonder if it is worth getting the free update.
One difference is the font. The standard Helvetica font is now San Francisco. This can be a let down to those loyal to Helvetica, but for most of us it is no big deal.
Wallet has replaced Passbook, allowing users to get rewards as well as redeeming them by Apple Pay.
Newsstand has also replaced News, allowing content to access more smoothly.
For those who worried about the memory usage it will cost, the latest update only requires 1.3 gigabytes, unlike the former update that needed nearly 5 gigabytes.
Less battery power is required and charging has faster results as well.
Maps has improved as well. Transit routes are now viewable which can be very convenient in the modern era of travel.
Multitasking has become much more easier and Siri’s artificial intelligence or AI has improved so much that she can now answer specific questions. This includes the weather outside and if the Huskers are losing again mid-game.
Really, the only downside I can see is iOS 9’s limitations on devices such as the iPhone 4S and the fifth generation iPod. Those with the iPad 2 or iPad Mini will also have some minimal limitations regarding the update.
Overall, iOS 9 is almost a must have for those who have a gigabyte or so to spare. Though it is not Apple’s most revolutionary update, it has plenty of improvement and smoother graphical user interface, or GUI, giving iOS 9 a prettier face than ever before.
