Weekend in Review 9/11-9/13
As another weekend has passed, Warrior athletics had another jam packed schedule.
Volleyball played on Thursday, facing Papillion-La Vista. The Warriors took the first set, but were unable to capture another. The final score was three sets to one, in favor of Papillion-La Vista. Westside’s next match is on Tuesday against Omaha Northwest.
For the first Friday sport, girls and boys cross country had a meet at Millard South. In a huge pool for both genders, the boys placed second overall. Junior Milo Greder placed fourth and Senior Abdi Abdinasir placed tenth. The girls placed fifth overall, with Phoebe Placzek finishing best for Westside at 16th.
The football team came out firing once again, defeating Millard South 38-16. Senior running back Logan Duryee rushed for 270 yards on 25 attempts and one touchdown. The teams next opponent is Lincoln Northeast on Friday.
Softball participated in the metro tournament over the weekend, playing two games against Papillion-La Vista and Bellevue West. Unfortunately the team lost both games, 13-1 and 14-1 respectively. They play again at Papillion-La Vista on Tuesday.
To round out the weekend, tennis had a great showing at the Fremont tournament. Sophomore Jordan Rhyner and senior Nick Pellet placed 2nd in number one doubles, junior Avery Wetzel and freshman Miltiadis Hatzidakis placed second in number two doubles, and Junior Dillon Ketcham placed second in number one singles. Overall the team placed third in the tournament. The team faces Papillion-La Vista South next, this Tuesday.
