Soccer District Preview
As the spring sports season comes to the close, both the girls and boys soccer teams are preparing for the district tournament. The prize for winning, a berth to the NSAA State Soccer Tournament. The girls team will host their district Monday and Wednesday of next week, while the boys will travel to Norfolk on the same days.
The girls will be the No. 1 seed in their district. They will take on Bellevue East in the first game of the district tournament Monday at 5 p.m. If they are able to beat the Chieftains they will play the winner of Omaha North vs. Columbus.
The girls previously beat Bellevue East Chieftains 8-0 April 24. The team has not played either of the other teams in the bracket. If the girls win, they will play in the district final Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The boys will be the No. 3 seed in Norfolk’s district. Norfolk, Kearney and Lincoln high, who are respectively the No 1., No. 2 and No. 4 seed, join them in the district. The team has not played any of the teams in their district.
Norfolk carries the No 1. seed into the district with an 11-4 record, and they look to be the favorite especially considering their victory over No. 2 seed Kearney. However don’t count the Warriors out who have the ability to make it to the state tournament.
