Weekend in Review
Basketball
Boys: The boys started the weekend by picking up a victory against Lincoln High. They were able to win despite the fact that starting point guard Trae Meeks was out with an injury. AJ Meeks lead the way to a 46-43 victory with 20 points. However the Warriors couldn’t continue the momentum through Friday. The team lost to rival Creighton Prep 56-46. The team was outscored 16-4 in the second quarter which was the downfall to the game. Westside outscored the Jr. Jays 42-40 during the rest of the game.
Girls: The girls team played on Tuesday and Thursday this weekend. In the Tuesday night game, the Warriors beat the Marian Crusaders 67-47. Jay Bridgeman lead the way for the Warriors with 16 points. The team won Thursday as well, beating 59-31 against Lincoln High. The team plays their first district game tomorrow night against Lincoln Southeast at Westside.
Wrestling
Joe Wiles and Drew Sorrell both won one match and lost one match at the State Tournament. Darlondo Hill finished fourth in the 170 pound weight class, and set a Westside record for most wins in a season with 37.
Swimming and Diving
The State Swim and Dive meet is this weekend. Diving starts on Thursday, and swimming Friday.
Show Choir
ATSC finished first runner up at the Hastings Swingin’ on the River competition in Minnesota.
