Westside High School has its first dating survey for students
Last week, a dating survey called Matchomatics made its way around the school. Matchomatics is a questionnaire that gathers people’s similarities with others in the school and matching them together.
The survey is filled out on a scantron and includes a variety of questions that find a persons perfect match. Some examples of questions are, “What do you look for in a person,” or, “What is your perfect idea of a date?” From there, SAB sent the scantrons back to the Matchomatics company scores the scantrons and gives the results to SAB.
Although other schools have been doing this survey, this is Westside’s first year trying it out.
“SAB decided on this survey because we have done kiss-a-grams in the past, where you can send a note and chocolate or a flower. However we just don’t make enough money with those. In fact, most years we hardly break even,” said SAB president Gabrielle Christensen. “So we decided to try something different that would still fit in with the theme of Valentine’s Day.”
Since it is the first time doing the survey, it only includes students. However, depending on the popularity and success of the Matchomatics survey this year, upon teachers’ requests, next year’s survey may include teachers as well.
After SAB looks at the numbers and the participation rate, they will then decide if they will continue this event. If it is not popular with the student body however, they will most likely not continue it for next year.
The results of the Matchomatics survey will be revealed at some point next week.
