CRAZE: H&M opens at Westroads Mall
CRAZE Magazine brings you some fall fashion tips for shopping at H&M
This past Friday, over 400 people gathered at Westroads Mall at 11 a.m. to claim their spot in line for the 12 p.m. grand opening of H&M. For most Westside students, seeing the newest addition to Westroads Mall would have to wait until after school hours, but for senior Hayley Krumwiede, waiting was not an option.
Krumwiede got called out of school at 11:30 a.m. to meet her mother who already had been waiting in line. She was excited to know the store was opening so she would no longer be limited to purchasing H&M merchandise online or in another state.
“I shop at H&M all the time when I’m out of town,” Krumwiede said. “I like it because it’s an upscale version of Forever 21.”
I, too, am an H&M shopper, so I was ecstatic when I found out one was opening just minutes away from my house. Although I couldn’t go to the opening, I did manage to take a trip down this weekend. This 18,000-square-foot space met all the expectations I had.
The first things you see as you walk into the store are rooms full of sophisticated and affordable clothing. The fashion H&M offers meets all the needs and wants of every type of person, whether you’re looking for an everyday high school look or a more professional look. The perfect mixture of blazers, casual wear and unbeatable prices is a step up from any other store currently in Westroads.
The unique thing about H&M is that it has a wide department of both men’s and women’s clothing. It has always been a struggle to find men’s clothing at such a low price, as I’m told by my male classmates. Although Forever 21 recently opened a men’s section, it doesn’t compare that of H&M.
To make it even better, H&M has deals on select clothing that are a part of the stores “Opening Offers.” These offers discount certain items to a drastically lower price to celebrate the opening. You can find sweaters, dresses and shirts for as low as $5 with this limited-time deal.
Even two days after the opening, H&M was still packed, and checking out required a long wait in line, but once the excitement dies down and the crowd isn’t quite as big, taking a trip to H&M is a must. The affordable high-fashion clothing and unique styles for everyone make it the place to pick up your trendy clothes for fall.

For guys:
Who doesn’t love a boy in button ups? When visiting H&M, look for a patterned or solid button up. Pair this with a cardigan, jeans or khakis and you have a fall fashion favorite. To finish, choose from the wide variety of chukkas and oxfords to add the perfect touch to any outfit.
For girls:
For the upcoming fall season, layers are a must for girls. Shop at H&M and purchase a chunky sweater to wear over a long sleeve patterned shirt. With cuffed sleeves, this look can be fashionable and comfy. Check out any of the store’s affordable denim to compliment the look. Finally, browse through H&M’s boot collection and add a scarf to complete the outfit.
