Westside Art to Send 29 Art Pieces to National Judging

This past weekend a number of artists went to the scholastic regional art competition, where they received awards for art that had been previously sent in. Westside High School students received a total of 98 individual awards, which was the most in the state.

The highest achieved award is called the Gold Key Award, and the art pieces that received a Gold Key, 29 for Westside, will move on for national judging that will take place March 17.

Westside senior Emily Reece was one of the artists who received a Gold Key.

“I’m very excited about getting Gold Keys,” Reece said. “I was glad to see that my hard work paid off and I can only hope for the best when it goes off to nationals.”

Along with Reece, another Westside High School student, Blair Goldstein, says she can’t wait to advance to national judging.

“It’s such an honor to get a Gold Key,” Goldstein said. “I’m very excited about it and can’t wait to find out what happens next.”

Check back after March 17 to find out how Westside High School Gold Key winners did at national judging.
