SWIMMING RECAP: Feb. 14 through Feb. 20
The Metro Conference Swim Championships took place this past week Feb. 13 – 15, 2014. The events took place at Millard West High School with diving Thursday Feb. 13, and swimming Feb. 14 and 15. In the boys division, the Westside swimmers left the meet with eighth place, scoring 140 points throughout the meet. The team was short of Creighton Prep (538), Millard South (251) and Papillion-La Vista/Papillion-La Vista South (241).
On the other hand, the Westside girls swimmers took second place behind Millard North. The final scores in the girls division were Millard North with 385.5 point, Westside with 365 points and Millard West took third place with 324.5 points.
One notable swimmer representing Westside was sophomore Elizabeth Amato-Hanner who won the 100-yard backstroke in a Metro Conference championship record time of 57.50. She also won first in the 200-yard individual medley.
With Metros now over, Westside will be training for the state meet Feb. 28 – Mar. 1, 2014.
