Girls Basketball Recap: Jan. 16 through Jan. 23
After a strong start to the weekend the Westside girls basketball team finished the week on a little bit of a rough patch. The weekend started with a 66-49 win at Norfolk. The team got a combined 41 points from post players Jay Bridgeman and Rachel Kaup.
Then the games took a turn for the worse. On Saturday the girls took on the then No. 2 Millard West Wildcats. The team lost a close game 62-54. Mallory Thompson led the way for the Warriors with 14 points, and Bridgeman was second with 13.
On Tuesday the team looked to rebound agains Millard North. However the Mustangs came out firing. The Warriors lost the game 52-44. Bridgeman lead the team with 10 and Marie Matthews contributed 8 points.
Jay Bridgeman leads the team with 13.6 points per game. Marie Matthews is second with 10.5 points per game. Bridgeman also leads in rebounds per game 7, followed by Rachel Kaup with 5.9 rebounds per game.
The team is 8-5 and ranked No. 6 heading into the weekend. This weekend there is only one game, Saturday against North Platte at 3 p.m. If you can’t make the game be sure to follow the LiveWired stream, or our twitter feed @westsidewired.
Prediction
Westside Wired predicts the Warriors will beat North Platte 2 votes to 1 on Saturday: The girls team is coming off of a tough stretch of games, and will rebound against North Platte. The two post players will dominate on the inside en route to a Westside win.
