Valentine’s Day
This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday. Does this mean it will be more relevant than a normal year? Will more spouses feel opted to take their loved ones out?
Across the district, elementary school kids get to spend an hour of Valentine’s Day having a party and delivering Valentines to their classmates. They then go running home that afternoon with loads of sugar to eat for days on end.
But how important is Valentine’s Day in this modern society? I think the relevance of the day has gone down year after year. Although kids enjoy the sugar they get to eat, the meaning of Valentine’s Day is not significant. One day a year should not be representative of one’s relationship with their significant other.
According to dictonary.com, Valentine’s Day is defined as “a day for the exchange of tokens of affections.” But in today’s world, people are trying to figure out what to get their significant other and where to take them more than the actual meaning of the day.
