Swimming Recap

Wednesday, Jan. 16 both Westside’s boys and girls swim and dive teams competed in a meet against Benson High School. Westside came out on top in both boys and girls divisions.

The boys won 136 to 32 and the girls won 141 to 24, for a combined team score of 277 to 56 against the much smaller Benson High School. The win was highlighted by first place finishes in all but four of the 24 events. Currently the boys team is 2-5 on the season, while the girls sit at a perfect 7-0. Assistant coach Nick Joslin was complementary of the team’s performance as a whole and has high hopes for the rest of the season.

“I’m sure everybody’s going to be having best times once they get rest, I’m pretty confident,” Joslin said.

Coming up on Westside’s schedule are duals against Papillion-LaVista and Burke, and the Scottsbluff Invitational, an annual competition the Warriors attend.

“That’s kind of a big weekend where we drive eight hours out to Scottsbluff,” Joslin said. “It’s nice to see what they can do out of their element.”
