The Westside girls tennis team is starting their season strong with a few returners and senior, Grace Greenwald, leading the team. This past week the team played Papillion La Vista South and Papillion La Vista. The team is excited for the next couple of weeks because of the wins they had over Papio South. They had a duel and everyone performed really well, winning all of their matches against the Titans.
The returning senior is getting ready for this week and is preparing to play against Lincoln Southwest, and Elkhorn South. Elkhorn South has a pretty stacked lineup filled with returners, Greenwald is practicing doubles and consistency.
“Leading up to the match I will work more on doubles. Elkhorn South will be a tough line-up so we will all be working on consistency,” Greenwald said.
The team is going into a tough week but is prepared. The Warriors have a fresh start and a new coach. The team has four new girls on the team and four returning players.
“I am looking forward to having a new coach and a fresh team. We have four returners and four new girls so the dynamic will be completely different. Along with that, we have a new coach, Betsy Kingston, so I am excited for a brand new environment for my last year,” Greenwald said.
The team having a different dynamic is affecting them in the best way possible. The team is having really great communication on and off the court. Greenwald is fairly excited for the new environment for her senior season.
“I am excited for a brand new environment for my last year. I plan on leading the team by giving my constant support and planning team bonding events. I really want to put an emphasis on the team’s relationship so I want to plan little events throughout the season,” Greenwald said.
The senior is going into her last high school season more positive than ever, and wants to enjoy it. Her goals are to stay consistent and lead by example for the new and returning girls on the team.
“I am so proud of the level of playing our team has demonstrated and I am excited for the weeks to come,” Greenwald said.
