Westside DECA had their very first pickleball tournament on September 21st and any member of the community could participate. The event was very successful.
With pickleball growing popularity, the DECA seniors felt it was the perfect choice for their event.
Senior Grace Greenwald is a member of DECA who attended the event.
“Pickleball is such an up and coming sport that anyone can do,” Greenwald said. “It’s an easier sport for people to pick up quickly so it’s made competing super fun.” said Grace Greenwald, a senior on DECA.
The tournament was not only a great way to support DECA, but also to bring the community together.
“It was so fun to have so many different teams from across the community supporting Westside,” Greenwald said.
The tournament brought together people of all ages. Sophomores Troy Shefsky and Amelia Deupree were crowned champions of the tournament.
“It was just a really fun time,” Shefsky said.
People from all over the community came out to show their support for Westside DECA. Overall, the tournament was a highly successful fundraiser for Westside DECA.
