Westside Community Schools Board selects Dr. Mike Lucas as next Superintendent
The Westside Community Schools Board of Education voted unanimously Monday evening to select Dr. Mike Lucas as the next Superintendent of the district. Dr. Lucas is currently the Superintendent of York Public Schools in York, Nebraska.
Dr. Lucas completed interviews last week with the Board and groups throughout Westside including parents, staff members and students. His career achievements include the Nebraska FFA Cornerstone Leadership Award and the Dale and Tom Hayes Award for outstanding educational leadership. Dr. Lucas noted that his priorities at Westside would include building on its long heritage of academic and instructional excellence, renewed focus on the annual budget and strengthening relationships with state leaders, and immersing himself in Westside’s culture and legacy.
Dr. Lucas will begin work at Westside in July when current Superintendent Dr. Blane McCann retires at the conclusion of this school year.
