New head custodian and rest of custodial staff are working hard

September 19, 2017

Even though lots of students know the main duties of the custodians, there are many more things that they do behind the scenes.

Virgil Coleman, the new head of the custodial staff at Westside High School had many things to say regarding how some people don’t realize how hard the custodians work to make the school a nice place for students.

“The custodians were here all summer working hard to make the school look its best for the school year,” Coleman said.

Even though there are many people who respect the custodians and what they do, it can be frustrating for Coleman when others are oblivious.

“The night and day staff work very hard, so it can be frustrating when there are spills and trash everywhere. It would be nice if people would own up to their messes, so then it would be easier and faster to clean up for the staff,” Coleman said.

Coleman has worked at almost every school in the district, but he said that the staff he is working with now is one of the hardest working groups of people he has ever worked with.

“This group of individuals works so hard to make this school a great place for everyone to attend, and I respect that,” Coleman said.
